Meeting my boyfriend's family by having them over for late lunch/dinner & need ideas that are easy & impress.?

Nothing too fancy or to labor intensive. These are people from Wisconsin they are the salt of the earth type people and throwing on airs may not be the way to go. I would do a clic like white wine chicken which always impresses even chefs that I have served. Lightly flour and season chicken then saute them in a little EVOO until a nice golden brown. I remove the chicken then add garlic saute add half bottle white wine reduce add 1/4 to 1/2 cup chopped parsley and some chick stock enough to cover and finish in oven really that simple served with rice or noodles and vegetable Maybe start with the soup or salad and finish with a nice rustic tart.
